Bedside Control Panel
A physical panel at the bed for the handful of things worth having a real button for.
- Dedicated buttons for beam light, desk lamp and window light
- Goodnight and goodmorning scenes, plus a remote PC shutdown
Voice control is excellent until you are half asleep, and a phone is worse — it requires unlocking a bright screen to turn a light off. This is the counterweight: a small panel at the bedside with a fixed button for each of the few actions that are worth a dedicated control.
Beam light, desk lamp, window light, turn off the PC, goodmorning, goodnight. Nothing configurable, nothing that moves — the value is entirely in the buttons always being in the same place in the dark.
Why it is on hold
It overlaps heavily with the bed sensor, which triggers goodnight and goodmorning automatically from occupancy. Once that works well, half of this panel’s buttons are solving a problem that no longer exists. Parked pending a decision on what is actually left for it to do.
